The aim is to promote blood donation and encourage blood donors so that sufficient quantity of quality and safe blood can be provided for the needs of the Institute for Transfusion Medicine of the Clinical Hospital Centre Rijeka. The core activities of the programme include: regular blood donation activities on site, educational seminars for organizers of blood donation initiatives, seminars for young blood donors, thematic conferences, solemn award of recognitions to donors with multiple blood donations, visits to ill donors and donors with multiple blood donations and activities promotion in clubs (club 100 drops and club 25).

Activities are implemented in the premises of local boards, at the Institute for Transfusion Medicine of the CHC Rijeka, in schools, faculties, student dormitories and in the premises of the Red Cross.

In 2013, in the premises of the Red Cross Rijeka, at the address Janko Polić Kamov 32, the Blood Donation Center of the city association of the Red Cross Rijeka was inaugurated as the first center of its kind in Croatia.
