The prize is awarded to educators, teachers, professional assistants and school principals for their individual contribution to education in Rijeka and in a wider region.

The City of Rijeka would like to give prominence and reward its educators, teachers, professional assistants and school principals for their daily devoted work with children and pupils in order to develop their competencies necessary for a happy and successful life as adults.

The prize is given to educators in recognition of the quality and innovation that they provide during education and their efforts in trying to keep up with all the challenges that children face in a dynamic society.

The prize is pecuniary and it amounts to EUR 1,000.00. In addition to the pecuniary prize, a recognition in writing is awarded as well.

Every calendar year, at most three prizes are awarded, as follows:

• one prize to an educator who works in a preschool institution,
• two prizes to educators who work in elementary schools.
