Integration of disadvantaged groups in the regular education system

Project goal:

In a particularly equipped and specialised class with a professional person and specifically created programmes, the project offered to children of foreign citizens and of asylum seekers an opportunity to learn the Croatian language and get acquainted with our customs and culture.

Duration: October 2013. – March 2015.

Key activities:

Within the project, in addition to carrying out a classroom adaptation, two teachers were hired to work half-time in order to teach children of foreign citizens the Croatian language; and to better prepare school staff for project implementation education was performed through the Quality School Programme, which with support from professors of the Faculty of Teacher Education, a police employee and other educators for teachers and non-teaching personnel was adjusted to the project. Furthermore, a study tour to Sweden was organised to learn from their example about tolerance and co-existence with foreigners.
