Description:
Owing to this project containers are purchased for separate collection of waste paper and cardboard, waste plastics, waste glass and biowaste, of various volumes, marked with the EU visibility mark, which will be used by the utility company Čistoća.
Overall 19,322 containers are purchased through the Fund for Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency, of which 9661 for paper and 9661 for plastic, metal and multilayer packaging. The containers have a capacity of 120, 240, 360 and 1100 litres.
Project goal and results:
The aim of this project is to establish waste separation at the place of generation in order to reduce the amount of mixed municipal waste generated, reduce the share of biodegradable municipal waste in generated mixed municipal waste, increase the amount of recyclable waste and to fulfil the obligation of the Republic of Croatia to ensure separate collection and recycling of waste cardboard and paper, waste plastics, waste glass and biowaste, and waste that falls into special waste categories.
By purchasing these containers local self-government units are provided assistance in the implementation of their legal obligations, i.e. ensuring the implementation of the goals and tasks from the adopted waste management plans, and thus also to the Republic of Croatia in fulfiling its obligations under the EU Accession Treaty.
