Project Goal:

is to protect the cultural heritage of the Frankopan family in the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County and create a new social and economic value through tourist valorisation.

Project duration: 1 November 2015 – 1 February 2021

Description:

“The Routes of the Frankopans”, cultural and tourist itinerary comprises overall 17 castles of the Frankopans and 3 religious sites located in the territory of our county, which will be enriched by newly-developed interpretation contents and promoted throughout the campaign as a unique cultural and tourist product and destination.

Within the project, the Trsat castle in Rijeka will be renovated as well. Apart from investment in the static restoration and conservation of the residential western wall of the Trsat castle, an outdoor interpretation park will be put in place.

The goal is to develop a cultural and tourist product with contents that will attract a number of visitors to the castle that were not originally envisaged to be included in the tourist offer of the County and in this way revive, some to date, less developed parts of the County.

The purpose is also to develop a sense of cohesion at regional level and the creation of a platform for cooperation of associations and cultural stakeholders.
