TECH -TOUR - technology and tourism – augmented reality for the promotion of Roman and Byzantine itinerariesThrough the project TECH – TOUR two historical transnational European cultural routes were promoted by applying state-of-art ICT tools. The project relates to the promotion of the “Roman route” which is made of two Roman routes – Iter Romanum and Via Annia crossing Italy, Slovenia, Croatia and Serbia as well as the promotion of the “Byzantine route” which stretches along the shores of Italy, Slovenia and Croatia.
In addition to the utilisation of state-of-art ICT tools (Augmented Reality), cultural and historical heritage was promoted by marking single locations of exceptional cultural and historical value along the routes. A virtual geolocation guide was prepared for four countries and interactive infoboards were placed in certain locations along the routes. Within the project, the area of former ancient Roman locality Tarsatica was shown in Rijeka.

The project was developed by the Department of Culture of the City of Rijeka in cooperation with the Tourist Board of the City of Rijeka and the Department of Art History of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Rijeka.
