Project Title:
Teaching them for their future: supporting and empowering teachers and principals in building sustainable and democratic schools
Duration: March 2019 – December 2020
Project Goal:
Contribute to the sustainable development of local communities and the improvement of the quality of life through the exchange of knowledge and experiences. Capacity building and development of competencies of teachers and principals for better education and investment in local community development.
Project activities:
In cooperation with three Croatian and one Swiss civil society organizations and two local and regional self-government units, several educational programmes will be implemented with the aim of providing support and empowerment of teachers and principals in building sustainable and democratic schools. The synergy of the civil sector, local authorities and educators is an added value of this project. Namely, these experts and institutions will invest resources, competencies and experience to ensure the progress of the education system in our community and contribute to the education of students to become subjects, not objects of the society in which they live.
The project is conceived as an upgrade to the Rijeka model of Civic Education, which has been implemented in schools since 2016.
