City of Rijeka Awards

Every year the City of Rijeka awards public recognitions to deserving individuals and institutions

In recognition of exceptional achievements and contributions of particular importance for the development and reputation of the city of Rijeka in the fields of economics, science, culture, health and social welfare, education, sports and technical culture, environmental protection and other public activities, the City of Rijeka awards public recognitions.

The City of Rijeka public recognitions are as follows:

  • Opera Omnia Award of the City of Rijeka,
  • Golden Plaque “The Coat of Arms of the City of Rijeka”,
  • Annual Awards of the City of Rijeka,
  • Honorary Citizen of the City of Rijeka.

At the proposal of the Committee for Public Awards of the City of Rijeka, the City Council takes a decision on the award of public recognitions of the City of Rijeka. Proposals for awarding public recognitions of the City of Rijeka shall be presented to the Committee for Public Awards following a public invitation published by the Committee for Public Awards in the local public bulletin and on the website of the City of Rijeka at the latest by the end of January of the current year. The text of the public invitation shall contain the conditions for awarding public recognitions, data on documentation that must be attached to the proposal and the terms for submitting proposals.

Citizens of the city of Rijeka, domestic legal entities and the mayor of the City of Rijeka are entitled to submit proposals for conferring the Opera Omnia Award of the City of Rijeka, the Golden Plaque “The Coat of Arms of the City of Rijeka” and the Annual Awards of the City of Rijeka.

The mayor of the City of Rijeka and the members of the City Council are entitled to submit proposals for proclaiming someone Honorary Citizen of the City of Rijeka.

The proposal for awarding public recognitions of the City of Rijeka is presented in writing. The procedure, conditions and method of awarding public recognition of the City of Rijeka have been established by the Decision on Public Recognitions of the City of Rijeka (OJ PGŽ 14/13)
